Maui Asbestos and Lead Testing Services 

 

Here on Maui many homes, condos and commercial buildings built before the mid-1980s were built using asbestos-containing materials. If the asbestos is left undisturbed, it poses no health risks to the home's inhabitants. However, when the asbestos is disturbed or becomes old or damaged, its fibers break apart easily and become airborne. These airborne Asbestos fibers are extremely dangerous when inhaled and can cause a host of illnesses including lung cancer.

 

Some of the common asbestos containing building materials are drywall mud, old style tiles, and asbestos popcorn ceilings. Some contractors, painters and maintenance persons will unknowingly disturb these materials without first having the suspect materials tested to see if they contain asbestos. This practice can put you at risk and is extremely reckless.
